If you guys are ever in the area, you guys have to visit LACMA which is a local art museum here in Los Angeles. We went with our principles of design class last Thursday for a field trip, and it was a very enjoyable experience. I don't know about you, but since I'm a lover of art I guess everything was really relevant to me which is why I enjoyed it so much but nevertheless, if you get the chance you should come visit it!

Not to mention, the last time we were there we met both Jane Lynch (from Glee) and Rainn Wilson (Dwight from the Office) randomly by the museum cafe.

Tammie.

Inclined to Draw

QUICK UPDATE:
Hi guys, I know this has been a while ago but I want to do a post on my art exhibition (senior and junior) which happened earlier this year. I was just looking at the photos from the exhibition and some of these artworks are amazing! I have to share them with you guys. I also feel like I never really talk about art (let alone my art) - it's just been photography and fashion on this blog, so this can give you guys a glimpse of the art that we do in my school.

This is the IB (International Baccalaureate) Art Exhibition for the 12th graders (which we have every year for the art students) but the 11th graders get a little space to showcase some of the works we did this year as well. This is our mini exhibition:

The one labelled "Wenwen's" is a portrait of my friends and I made by one of my best friends :) I'm the 3rd from the right. Isn't it adorable though? Such a fun piece. The painting I did is based on a photograph I took of my sister.

These are portraits we did of cleaning ladies in our school. It was a great experience, and we actually have little history blurbs next to the portraits to tell people about the "stories" of these ladies.

In case you guys want to see mine better:

It's not amazing but I think with practice I can definitely get better!

Here are some of my favorites from the seniors' exhibition:

This piece is made from HAIR on canvas. Intricate right?! It's craaaazy. It must have taken her forever. I would never have the patience to make something like this... It would be too fidgety for me, I would not have the patience.

This is not a photograph, it's acrylic paint on canvas.

Now these last two pieces:

Are made from charcoal. Yes, that's right. They are not photographs but they are charcoal and graphite on paper. The same person who painted the clouds.

Okay well I hope you guys found that interesting and please do comment and let me know your thoughts on these pieces!

Tammie.

Seductive Candy Cane Eating

QUICK UPDATE:
Haven't had one of these for a while, so I decided to write now. Christmas is really getting closer and there's a reminder all over our school. We have multiple christmas trees up around - can't really say how many but we do. Here are some photos of the tree and also some stuff in the 12th grade common room.
This is the tree up in the 12th grade Common room.
A big fat reminder that school's out in a couple days.

This is what we kids live off of in school. Chocolate milk goodness.

Also a big fat reminder, not of christmas obviously.
We also had art class today, and my friend is doing portraits of us using a particular style of an artist where she just draws our hair and our lips.

I really see a likeness, don't you? HAHAHA.
I actually think her hair looks a lot the same on the painting as hers real-life. And the lips too kind of. Haha!
Also - I'm most excited about this - let me show you my latest GIF masterpiece. I'm not sure what my friend was doing but I'm glad I caught it on camera.

It's like seductive candy cane munching. Or tormenting? Jaw-breaking?
I-haven't-had-one-of-these-in-a-while-ing? I'm not sure.
Comment for suggestion of titles? :D

Tammie.

Shoes? Yes, please.

Inspiration: arousal of the mind to special unusual activity or creativity.

Today we had a fashion designer come in for our Art class and naturally, the first thing I noticed were her shoes. Her name is Claire Driscoll and right now she's working in Hanoi.

Check them out. They look sort of handmade suede or something yeah? So adorable.

And loving the hair! I think it's bleach blonde? It's great.
Mucho inspirational.

Also, apparently she's worked for some really famous people like coldplay's costume for one of the awards and Little Britain which I found well impressive. If you click on the picture above you'll see some of the pictures of the costumes she made for well-known people. There's also a picture of Alex McGrath up there.

Well she talked in our class about what to expect if we would like to take on fashion as a career and in university. So that was really interesting! Enjoyed the visit very much. She also showed us a couple of blogs which I already knew about. Two of the most famous street fashion blogs, satorialist (http://www.satorialist.blogspot.com/) and facehunter (http://www.facehunter.blogspot.com/).

Ciao,
Tammie.

I Like To Take Pictures of Flowers Because It Makes Me Feel Artsy.

Artsy: Informal Arty.

Lol at the definition.
Anyways, yes, taking pictures of flowers makes me feel artsy. It's so cliche too you know? Flowers = art. Therefore, photographs of flowers makes me feel artsy. Doesn't necessarily make me an artist. It just makes me feel artsy. All the photos in this post are RAW by the way, they are untouched and un-edited.

Doesn't flowers make everyone feel artsy?

Photography

Photography: the act of taking and printing photographs

Here are some photographs that I have been taking around school. Do visit my deviant art (link on the side) sometime and take a look at my pictures. I would really appreciate it :)

I really love playing with natural lighting. See how the light outlines her nose on the top picture there? Love it. In the picture below, her profile is outlined using obviously contrast - dark and light.

I love taking pictures of profiles, and close-ups. Candids for sure. The picture above is a candid, but the one below obviously is not. I like both of them.

Ciao,
Tammie
